Called to Treen camp site to investigate a report of two red flares been seen in the direction of the Logan Rock. We spoke to the first informants who were adamant in what they saw. Then two girls who were walking up the footpath came over to the vehicle asking what was going on. Once it had been explained to them they told us that someone was letting off Chinese lanterns which drifted across the bay and could have been mistaken for flares. From that it was decided that no further action needed to be taken.

Called to an incident, the position of which was originally given as Wireless point where an unconscious male lay on the footpath.

After making our way to that position and making a landing site for the helicopter a call from Falmouth stating that the wrong grid ref had been passed to them was received.

The new grid reference put the casualty a half a mile away as the crow flies, above Pednvounder. The helicopter was up and on scene within a very short time.

We had to regroup and make our way through Portcurno and Treen. Once on scene the police, ambulance, Lifeguards and a first aid responder Brian Wood from Lands End were in attendance.

The young man was winched aboard the helicopter and flown to Treliske Hospital and was pronounced dead on arrival.
