1753hrs. A sad start to the new year - we were tasked to assist Rescue 193 with a landing site near St Buryan.
The weather conditions were bad ,snow and ice made driving difficult.
A 10 month old baby had stopped breathing and the helicopter was needed to fly the baby to hospital. CRO officer Richard Hatfield lived nearby and walked the short distance to were the incident was and gave directions to the C G vehicle.
The helicopter landed near to the house and an ambulance and paramedic were already on scene and were attending to the child, the paramedic from the helicopter also assisted.
After some time the baby was taken to the helicopter and flown to Treliske and unfortunately he did not recover.
Our sincere condolants go out to the family for their loss. I must praise the ambulance team and paramedics for the work they did - they never gave up.
SO D Jackson, DSO G Hale E Semmens,C Wood and R Hatfield attended.
