1645 hrs. Called to a cliff incident at Castle River, where a male had fallen some 30 ft onto  rocks. The cliff team were tasked along with the Sennen  Cove ILB and the AWB and R193 from Culdrose.

On arrival at the gate to Mayon cliff the padlock was not working and the gate had to be removed from its hangings.

Once the casualty was located with the help of the ILB, the team proceeded to the cliff top and started to rig up, the ILB had already put two persons ashore with first aid and oxygen.

R193 soon arrived on scene and orange smoke was set off and a diver was lowered down to thecasualty.

Members of the Westcountry Ambulance service were also on the cliff top at this time.

Lands End SO asked the ILB to relay to the shore team if any more man power was needed at the cliff base. "Negative" was the reply and the team remained set up and ready in case  a problem arose.

Soon the helicopter came in to lift two persons up and drop them on top of the cliff, at the same time as they were in hover Falmouth called to ask if they could leave the crew members and friends of the injured man  to be recovered by the ILB or the cliff team so the casualty could be taken to hospital.

By that time the first two were being winched aboard the helicopter and shortly after dropped on the cliff top and the helicoptor returned to collect the remaining pair and dropped them also on the cliff top returning then to winch up the casualty and transport him to hospital.

The team derigged the equipment and carried it back to the vehicle.
