After deploying search teams from Lands End complex to Sennen Cove the unfortunate ship was found aground in Gamper Bay where the Castle River meets the sea.

The Sennen Cove Lifeboat arrived at the same time but due to a heavy swell stood off and kept a close watch on the wreck.

Rescue 193, the helicoptor in the picture, arrived shortly afterwards and took off 5 of the crew leaving only the skipper on board.

After contacting the ship's owners and suffering several drenchings from the heavy waves breaking over the vessel, and much advice from the lifeboat Coxswain Terry George and the Coastguard team on the shore, the skipper finally allowed the helicopter to lift him off his vessel.
