Called to Merthan Point where a spaniel named Freckles had became stuck 50 ft down the cliff. Her owners, who were on holiday, took Freckles out for a walk and she ran off. After searching for her they could not find her and feared the worst and being upset about not finding the dog packed up their holiday and went home.
The next day a remaining couple of the family made one final attempt to locate the dog. As they were about to give up they spotted a movement down the cliff and with the aid of a pair of binoculars confirmed it was Freckles. They called the Coastguard.
Once the team got on scene they had to locate the animal and struggle through brambles, bracken and hawthorn. Cliffman Adrian Semmens kitted up and made his way down to the dog who was on a ledge about two feet wide. Once he made contact with Freckles she was not very keen on coming off the ledge and had to be helped but once off she was fine and walked part of the way and returned to the couple safe and well.
