While on routine patrol, Richard Hatfield and Jeff Beare were called to Porthloe Cove near Gwennap Head to investigate a report of a smoke and light marker washed ashore.

The marker was recovered and secured in a metal pyrotechnic container and taken to the Sector Base at Chy-an-Dour, Penzance for safe disposal.
